"Only If You Can See It"...WHAT!?

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

Why do you want to be an entrepreneur? What are you looking to gain from going down that road? In what ways do you want to contribute to your community? Can you see it? No? So, what are you going to do?

Keep Moving Forward!

There is a reason they say entrepreneurs are crazy. There is also a reason they say it requires taking great risks. It's because on this road, you won't always be able to see the finish line. Yet, you have to be relentless in pursuing your goals like you know it's there. This may sound like an easy thing to do initially, but when things get tough (and they will) you still have to believe. Can you imagine having to choose between buying your kid a Christmas gift, or investing in some part of your business? Or, what about having to choose between keeping your rainy day fund or using it to develop your service/product? Guess which side entrepreneurs choose more times than not?

Be smart, do your homework, crunch the numbers, and develop a plan. The most important thing is to start. Listen to this carefully... the perfect circumstances to begin will never exist. There will always be something happening, and life will continue to occur at the most inconvenient times. But you can't let that stop you from starting. Nor, can you let it stop you from continuing. Being successful is actually easy by definition. You just continue to do at least one thing everyday toward the development of your dreams/goals. What makes it hard are the things that happen to take you off course. The things that slow you down, discourage you, set you back, etc. It takes a stern focus and discipline to stay the course in the face of adversity.

Entrepreneurs may seem "crazy" from the outside looking in, but the truth is we just understand the process. There are two primary things that come into play. Time and the compounding effect. We know we put the effort into fully understand our crafts, and have become masters of it. So, to us as long as we don't quit, we know we will reach the enjoyable part of the journey. Along the way, we also know that life is going to throw curve balls at us. We expect them, prepare for them, and handle them while still moving forward towards our finish line. And from the outside looking in, when something happens that would cause others to stop, or when we take risks others consider absurd, we have to be out of our minds right?

The truth is a lot of times it wont work out the way you want it to, but you have to get up and try again. During those moments, those around you are going to feel that they were right about you all along. And yes, those thoughts (especially from the ones you care about) are going to be uncomfortable. But, keep going big, because you won't win playing it "safe". And, when the tides turn in your favor with a win, watch how fast those thoughts change directions. Remember they can't see it until it's real, you have to see it before then and act accordingly.

You never know how close you were from the end when you quit. But, I'm sure we can agree that it would be awful if you were only one attempt way from breaking through. Instead of having a mentality of "giving up", why not adopt a mindset of "making adjustments?" If you feel you aren't getting the results you desire then make an audible. This system of trial and error is the only way you are going to find what works. But you have to be in to gain this insight. Don't try to do this from the sidelines, it won't be the same, and all you'll do is end up delaying your start.

Also, don't judge your journey based off of anyone else's. The truth is everyone's journey can be just as different as our personalities. If you see "Jo-Shmo" seeing results faster than you are, that doesn't mean you are doing something wrong. Neither does it mean this business isn't for you, it just means his journey is different from yours. This difference can even be seen within multiple businesses started by them same person. That's because businesses are like people, unpredictable. All you can do is stay committed to it, hold your vision firm, and keep moving forward. And eventually, sooner or later, you will reach your pinnacle.
